What should I wear in Kamakura in June?

In the morning, when I opened the curtains, the sky was painted a pale gray.

It looked like it was going to rain, but it didn't.

Such an ambiguous sky is typical of Kamakura in June.

"Let's go to Kamakura today."

It was Tamaki who suddenly thought of this.

It had been a long time since she had a day off solely for herself, amidst her busy daily life of work and housework.

She took out her favorite linen pants and stood in front of the mirror.

Just one layer felt a bit flimsy.

But a coat seemed too hot.

Dressing for Kamakura in June is always a bit tricky.

While searching "Kamakura clothes June" on her smartphone, Tamaki eventually slipped a stole into her bag.

At this moment, she didn't yet know that this choice would later become a strong ally.

June in Kamakura is a season where heat and sea breeze coexist.

By the time she arrived at the nearest station, soft light was beginning to peek through the clouds.

The temperature was close to 25 degrees Celsius.

It was hot enough to make her sweat if she walked.

But Kamakura has the wind blowing from the sea.

The closer she got to Yuigahama and Zaimokuza, the more pleasantly the wind caressed her skin.

That's why so many people search for "Kamakura clothes rainy season."

Just dressing for the heat isn't quite enough.

Sea breeze.

Sudden rain.

Air-conditioned cafes.

Long walks.

Ideal clothing would cater to all of these.

Tamaki left her house and headed for the station in a relaxed, light outfit.

Comfortable shoes.

Flowy pants.

And a stole in her bag, ready for when she needed it.

It was an outfit with the余裕 of an experienced traveler.

Heading to Meigetsu-in Temple

First, she headed to Kita-Kamakura.

It's one of the places that symbolize Kamakura this season.

Getting off the train, she could already see people who had come to see the hydrangeas.

The path leading to Meigetsu-in Temple was damp, and various sizes of hydrangeas bloomed along the way.

White, blue, pale light blue.

Perhaps it was because of the cloudy sky that their colors appeared deeper and more beautiful.

Tamaki walked slowly, stopping to admire the flowers.

Just by wearing her favorite clothes, she felt a little closer to the scenery.

She wanted to savor the atmosphere of the place rather than take pictures.

The scent of hydrangeas.

The smell of wet earth.

Raindrops remaining on the leaves.

In Kamakura in June, time flows unhurriedly.

A quiet time spent in a coffee shop

By lunchtime, she began to feel a bit muggy.

Tamaki entered a coffee shop she had been curious about.

As she opened the door, cool air flowed in.

From her window seat, she could see greenery.

The aroma of coffee.

Quiet music playing.

There are many things in this town that get overlooked in a busy daily life.

It's a place where you savor time, rather than being rushed by it.

To Yuigahama Beach, where the sea breeze is pleasant

Afternoon.

The sky had completely brightened.

Tamaki headed to Yuigahama Beach.

Walking along the coast, a wind carrying the scent of the tide blew.

Locals were walking their dogs on the beach.

Children were playing at the water's edge.

Despite being a tourist spot, there was a sense of everyday life.

That's the charm of Yuigahama.

As she sat on the sand, gazing at the sea, the wind became a little chilly, so she quickly took out her stole and draped it over herself.

It was a moment where she felt glad she brought it.

There's coolness within the heat, and quietude within the bustle.

To enjoy Kamakura in June, clothing that allows both body and mind to feel free is fitting.

Discovering MAR at the end of an alley

On her way home.

While walking from Yuigahama Beach towards Kamakura Station, Tamaki stopped in front of a small shop.

Through the window, she saw clothes made from natural materials.

Warm-looking woven bags.

Simple, timeless miscellaneous goods.

Everything was quietly present there.

Nothing was loudly asserting itself.

Yet, it was strangely eye-catching.

MAR is not a place that rushes anything.

It's a place to encounter things that enrich daily life, even just a little.

Like a favorite discovery made by chance on a trip.

It's a place where encounters with items you'll want to use for a long time await.

As Tamaki slowly browsed the store, she thought she would come back again when the seasons changed.
